Jet Fuel
(by Emily Mills)
An entire history filtered down
Into the rushing chaos of only a few moments.
A proud and arrogant god brought to its knees
By a conviction. And we all wept together—
And after that brief moment of unity, a few
Seconds of clarity, the paths diverged in the woods of
Anger and pain – grace, mercy, and love.
They looked to the one above
Who was forcibly placed on both sides,
Who had never taken sides at all….
Two ugly towers come down
And the world stopped to stare
At our love affair with melodrama
Burning like jet fuel in the morning air.
